As per the order of the State Government, a new Government Medical College is to be constructed at Tirupur. Chief Minister Edappadi Palanisamy laid the foundation stone for this new project over a video conference on May 18.

The Medical College is proposed to be constructed at Nallur Zone in Tirupur over an area of 11.28 hectares at a cost of Rs.336.96 crores.The Central and State governemts have allotted Rs.195 crores and Rs.141.96 crores, respectively, for the purpose.
