Valparai, a tourist spot, hosts a lot of visitors each year from Tamilnadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Pondicherry and a lot of foreign countries. Many hotels function in Valparai, Rottikadai and the Sholayar Dam areas.
During the meeting, she advised it is mandatory for the hotel owners to record the details of the visitors in their registers. Their addresses and mobile numbers need to be registered and verified and copies of their Aadhar cards and driving licenses are also to be retained safely.
Common areas of hotels where guest movement is high must be monitored by security cameras and their footages must be retained safely, she advised.
Police Inspector Maheshwari with other department officials and more than 50 hotel owners participated in the meeting.
