On Thursday evening, heavy rain uprooted a huge tree on the Ooty-Coonoor highway. The tree that fell near the Kanikkai Nagar on the Coonoor-Ooty highway disrupted traffic in the area.
The Coonoor Fire department officer Mohan led a team including workers Murali, Nithyanandam and Sekar and rushed to the spot to remove the uprooted tree, which was cleared in half an hour and traffic resumed. Nothing untoward happened due to the incident.
