1184 migrant workers sent home in 40 buses from Nilgiris
The Nilgiris: A total of 1184 North Indian migrant workers were sent home today in 40 buses.
The district administration has sent 1184 people from across the Nilgiris district to the state of Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government as they lost their livelihood due to the coronavirus virus.
In all, 40 buses have ferried the workers under the direction of the District Collector, Innocent Divya. A team comprising the District Collector's Assistant (General) Gitapriya, Deputy Collector Kannan and Thasildhar Ravikumar coordinated the arrangements.
Once reaching to Mettupalayam, they will leave for their homes in a special Shramik train.
