Coimbatore: In a grievous incident in the city today, a man was stabbed by his younger brother over property dispute with the mother as a helpless witness.
The couple Marudhamuthu and Palaniammaal of K.K.Pudur area in Saibaba Colony have two sons, Azhaguraja (55) and Sekar (53) both of whom reside with their parents at K.K. Pudur.
After attending a funeral in the area, Sekar came back with a few bottles of liquor which both the brothers had consumed. A frequent topic of dispute regarding a property came up at the time in which Sekar accused Azhaguraja of having borrowed Rs.10,000 without his knowledge. While Azhaguraja refused this, Sekar who was in an inebriated state picked up a knife and stabbed his brother in the chest.
The injured Azhaguraja fell unconscious on the spot. Witnessing this, Palaniammal shouted for help upon which neighbours retrieved Azhaguraja and sent him to Coimbatore GH for treatment. The doctors who examined Azhaguraja declared him brought dead.Following, this the police were informed of the incident and rushed to the spot and filed a case.
During investigation, Sekar who was arrested by the police for stabbing and killing his brother confessed to having killed his brother under the influence of alcohol. He said that there had been a dispute regarding a property in the Annanagar area and he wanted the property to be changed into his name; however, Palaniammal and Azhaguraja had been refusing to do so, which made him to resort to killing.
Following this, the police produced Sekar in front of a magistrate judge and later imprisoned him.
The incident where a man stabbed his sibling over a property dispute has caused shock and disbelief amid the residents of the area.
