The 11 Jain temples catering to the spiritual needs of the followers of Jainism have remained closed in accordance with the COVID-19 lockdown stipulations.
With devotees being denied visitation to their worship places for more than two months now, the administrators of the temples have asked government to consider reopening them, citing the relaxations provided to businesses such as various industries, roadside eateries, shops, etc as examples.
Jain devotees have requested that all the worship places such as temples, churches and mosques should be allowed to function with the requisite social distancing norms in place along with the observance of other guidelines laid by the government in the war against the novel Coronavirus.
They observed with the use of these masks, called mukosh, one runs less chance of getting contaminated with the virus.
The Jains said they do not believe in protests or dharnas, but instead believe in humbly requesting the government to allow their temples to function and, if not, they would rather fast and pray at their homes for the prosperity and well-being of mankind.
