Lone tusker wreaks havoc in Valparai; breaks into and damages home
Coimbatore: A lone tusker in Valparai broke into the home of a tea estate worker and wreaked havoc in Valparai, Coimbatore.
People have been at peace for a long time in the area without any tusker trespassing into their properties for quite sometime now, but all hell broke loose last night, when a lone wild elephant broke into the house of Jebika, a labourer at the Stanmore Tea Estate near Valparai.
Upon hearing the commotion caused by the pachyderm, Jebika ran through the back door and sought refuge in a neighbouring home. The elephant then ran amok through the house and damaged all the goods inside and then moved onto mangle the door of the neighbouring house.
Tea plantation guards chased the wild elephant into the forest area. The forest department inspected the area and are monitoring the movement of the tusker. The return of the wild elephant to the residential area has caused panic amid the people.
