For the past few days, bear movement has been noted at Coonoor, Kotagiri, Kolakkambai and a few other places in the Nilgiris. This has beenincreasing continuously.
On those lines, a huge grizzly has been spotted in the Ubathalai village for the past couple of days. Hiding in a tin shelter in the vicnity, it has been found to venture out after people movement decreases. It wanders in search of food into the nearby tea estates..
Residents of the area said that the bear has not attacked anybody yet and have requested the forest department to capture it and let it into forests before anything untoward happens.
