1184 migrant workers from Nilgiris to be sent to their hometowns: District Collector
The Nilgiris: District Collector Innocent Divya told reporters that 1184 migrant workers from Jharkhand, staying in the Nilgiris, will be sent from Mettupalayam to their home state on Thursday.
She said, in the district, 13 out of the 14 coronavirus positive cases have recovered, and the migrant workers wishing to return to to their home states have been sent thorough special buses.
Accordingly, apart from 91 migrant workers from Assam being ferried to their home states today, more than 500 workers from Northern stats have been sent home so far.
She added that a pregnant woman from Chennai, who was diagnosed with coronavirus when she was brought to Nilgiris for delivery, had been sent to the ESI Hospital in Coimbatore for treatment and the 52 people who were in direct contact with her are still being monitored.
The District Collector said the Kanthal area where they reside has been isolated.
