Tirupur: A gang of juveniles speeding on two wheelers attacked a shopkeeper who questioned them. The injured shopkeeper has been admitted to Tirupur Government Hospital for treatment.
Rajesh (26), a shopkeeper from Surya Nagar of Palayakadu in Tirupur owns a grocery store in the same area. Late in evening yesterday, a few adolescent boys from NRK Puram were speeding unnecessarily on their two wheelers in the area.
Citing the presence of children on the road, Rajesh chided them. Enraged by this, the boys came back again with a few more juveniles armed with sharp objects such as sickles, knives and rods and assaulted Rajesh, who suffered grievous injuries. Right after the attack, the boys issued more threats and left the place.
Residents of the area were shell shocked seeing the uncalled for rage and the subsequent deadly attack using sickles, rods, and knives by the boys.
Following this, they informed the Tirupur North police who rushed to the spot. The police managed to nab five of the boys and are conducting an inquest. The search is on for the rest of the boys.
Rajesh was admitted to Tirupur Government Hospital for treatment.
The attack on a grown man by adolescents with weapons has caused shock and disbelief among the residents of the area.
