Husband sets wife on fatal fire over a quarrel
Coimbatore: Husband killed wife by setting her on fire using kerosene.
Sodh Lal is a native of Uttar Pradesh. His wife is Sakuntala (36). The couple is residing in the Ganesapuram area near Eachanari Vinayagar temple. Sodh Lal works in a private company in the area.
Allegedly, there was an argument between husband and wife today. An infuriated Sodh Lal poured kerosene all over Sakuntala and set her on fire, who started screaming in agony.
On seeing smoke and hearing the blood-curdling screams of Sakuntala, the neighbours tried to douse the fire by pouring water, but unfortunately, she succumbed to death on the spot.
Sodh Lal suffered severe burns on both hands. He has been admitted to the Government Hospital for treatment. Podanur police have registered a case and are investigating. The incident created a stir in the area.
