The 30th Shramik train 🚂 ferries 1569 migrant workers from Coimbatore to Chhattisgarh today

The concerted efforts of the district administration and railways have helped in ferrying 40,387 migrant workers from Coimbatore district back to their respective home states through 29 Shramik trains, so far. Another train left for Chhattisgarh with 1569 migrant workers today.



Coimbatore: The concerted efforts of the district administration and railways have helped in ferrying 40,387 migrant workers from Coimbatore district back to their respective home states through 29 Shramik trains, so far. Another train left for Chhattisgarh with 1569 migrant workers today.



Prior to the journey, the workers were assembled at a private wedding hall near the railway station where they were provided with food and water and later transported to the station around 5 p.m. Right before boarding the train, they were thermal scanned with the requisite social distancing norms being maintained.

It may be noted that, so far, over 3000 Shramik trains have been operated across the nation ferrying more than 40 lakh migrant workers to their respective states.



Coimbatore Railway Station Director P. Sathesh Saravanan, DRO Ramadurai Murugan, Tahsildar (South) S.Arulmurugan, Deputy Tahsildar (South) Selvam, Revenue Inspector (Coimbatore Town) P. Kathiresan, Revenue Inspector (Singanallur) Rajendran, VAO Nagrajan, Deputy Tahsildar (North) Manivel, Head Surveyor Chandresakeran, and other government and police officials were present.
