Drug addict son arrested for stabbing father in Coonoor
The Nilgiris: High on marijuana, a son stabbed his father in Coonoor. He was later arrested.
Ravichandran (51) and his son Rajaram (21) are daily wage labourers living in Wellington Bhogi Street near Coonoor. Allegedly, Rajaram is a marijuana addict. He was said to have verbally abused his family when high on the drug yesterday.
When Ravichandran heard this, he chided Rajaram who, in a fit of anger, stabbed his father, in the leg, with a sickle lying nearby.
The injured Ravichandran was admitted to the Coonoor Government Hospital and later transferred to Coimabtore Government Hospital for further treatment.
Upon information, Wellington Inspector Anandan and Sub-Inspector Ravichandran rushed to the spot, arrested Rajaram and produced him at the Coonoor court. The Coonoor Magistrate ordered Rajaram to be detained for 15 days following which Rajaram was imprisoned in Ooty.
