Domestic flight services resume today after two months: 65 passengers from Delhi land in Coimbatore Airport


Coimbatore: As part of various relaxations in the COVID-19 lockdown, domestic flight services were resumed today.

IndiGo flight from Delhi with 65 passengers arrived at Coimbatore airport this morning. Later, a SpiceJet flight from Chennai followed suit with 70 passengers. PCR tests were conducted at the airport premises for the passengers.



A medical team of five is in action at the airport complex. All passengers undergoing PCR testing receive a seal on their hands. Travellers are advised to remain in isolation until PCR tests are concluded.

Travellers belonging to Coimbatore district will be isolated at the government isolation centres. Those who wish to stay in hotels will be permitted as recommended by the district administration. On receipt of tests, they will either be taken to hospitals or sent home for a 14-day isolation period.

The same procedure is applicable to travellers from other districts. The health department officials in the respective districts are being informed by their counterparts in Coimbatore district. It has also been instructed to monitor the passengers who board the flights.

Passengers expressed happiness on the resumption of flight services. Meanwhile, flights from Mumbai and Hyderabad scheduled for Coimbatore were cancelled. It is noteworthy that flights are being operated from Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore to Coimbatore and vice versa.
