Coimbatore: More than 2,000 families of temple priests, auto, taxi, and tempo drivers, workers from the unorganised sector and members of the Muslim community were provided with relief packages by MLA Kasthuri Vasu.

As part of lockdown relief activities, MLA Kasthuri Vasu distributed relief packages consisting vegetables to 15,000 families in Valparai, in the first phase, at her own expense.In the second phase, 3,000 families residing in Valparai were provided with rice, pulses and other relief supplies. The third phase saw the distribution of relief material to tea estate workers.
In the fourth phase conducted today, temple priests, auto, taxi, van and tempo drivers, workers of the unorganised sector, and church members were provided with relief packages. Following this, 360 Muslim families received the supplies. She expressed her Ramadan wishes to the members of the Muslim community and presented the packages to them in front of the mosque in Valparai.

The event was attended by District Engineer Saravana Babu, Tahsildhar Raja, Police Inspector Maheshwari, Cooperative Bank President Valparai Hameed, Vasu, District Secretary Mayil Ganesan, Pon Ganesan, Salauddin Nasappan, M.R.S. Mohan and other party cadres.
