Police nabbed the miscreant Azhaguvel, who stole Rs. 20,000 cash and 10 sovereigns of gold from Attica Gold Loans, a jewellery pawn company, in Tirupur.
Tirupur: Police nabbed the miscreant Azhaguvel, who stole Rs. 20,000 cash and 10 sovereigns of gold from Attica Gold Loans, a jewellery pawn company, in Tirupur.
The shop is located in one of the crowded areas of Tirupur, the Kumaran Road. Two days ago, a man who entered the store wearing a helmet threatened the employees with a sickle and managed to escape with Rs.20,000 cash and 10 sovereigns of gold.
Following a complaint lodged by the company manager Thangaraj, police investigated the CCTV footage. It was found that the thief was Azhaguvel from Sirupooluvapatti in Salem and he had been involved in many jewellery robbery cases.
The police then cast nets to nab the culprit. Today, the cops have managed to nab Azhaguvel.
The police were conducting routine vehicular checks in the areas within the Tirupur North Police Station limits. At the time, they saw a man who was moving about in a dubious manner.
They caught hold of him and held an enquiry. While conducting a search on him, they found a lot of money and gold jewels. The cops then took him to the station for further investigation in which they found out who he was. The inquest revealed that he was Azhaguvel, the thief who robbed Attica Gold Loans.
The police then arrested him and confiscated Rs. 14,000 cash and 10 sovereigns of gold. They said the miscreant is an accused in many theft cases.
