Autos resume operations today with restrictions in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: During the lockdown due to the coronavirus crisis, the Central Government banned public transport.
The fourth phase of the lockdown saw Tamil Nadu government permitting operation of businesses with some relaxations. On those lines, the government has granted permission to operate autos across Tamil Nadu, besides the Chennai city, following demands from various quarters.
Restrictions like limiting the number of passengers to one and operating within a timeframe of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. are in place.
While providing hand sanitiser to the passenger is mandatory, it has been reiterated that both the driver and the customer wear face masks. Drivers have been seen urging the public to extend their full support and cooperation to the government's efforts to curb the impact of the coronavirus.
The city witnessed operation of autos in major locations including Gandhipuram, Singanallur, Ukkadam, and Saibaba Colony today.
