Leopard attacks pet dog in Valparai
Coimbatore: A leopard attacked a pet dog in Kamaraj Nagar in Valparai on Friday. The forest department are investigating the incident.
Following public complaints of increased leopard movement in the residential and commercial areas in Valparai town, the forest department has stepped up vigil.
Upon an alert from the public of leopard movement in Kamaraj Nagar area and BAB Colony on Pollachi road, a team.led by Forest Officer, Senthil Kumar inspected the area.
According to reports, the leopard was trying to attack a pet dog of a resident named Annammal in Kamaraj Nagar. The leopard fled from the area after the public started shouting and making noises.
During the inspection, the forest staff found household wastes dumped in many which could lure the leopard. People were advised to avoid dumping wastes at multiple places, instead dump the wastes at one place and keep them covered.
The public have jointly requested to the Forest Department to chase the leopard into forest area.
