Barricades around Bazaar area removed in Coimbatore - people and animals free after 55 long days

After fifty five days of barricading the Bazaar area of Coimbatore on three sides, today the barricades were removed allowing people and animals to come out with freedom.


Coimbatore: After fifty five days of barricading the Bazaar area of Coimbatore on three sides, today the barricades were removed allowing people and animals to come out with freedom.

The first barricade at the junction of the R. G Street Jain temple and Edyar street, the second between Uppaara street and Thomas street, and the third one on the eastern side of the Bazaar were removed by the Corporation as part of easing Lockdown 4.0.



The cows and bulls had a happy time meeting their grazing pals. Ganga, a desi cow, had the opportunity to meet Cauvery, a jersey breed, after 55 days. Thegou rakshaks were seen feeding a dozen cows and bulls. Kamala, a vegetable seller got to sell all of her stock of agathi keerai, a healthy food for humans and animals.

Rishab Bagrecha who lives in the Ananthnath Jain temple complex could breathe a sigh of relief as he could use his scooter to go to his shop at Oppanakara street because of the removal of barricades. Rajesh Gadiya, a businessman, said that the opening of the barricades is a welcome step because of which the business community is happy, but also mentioned people should not crowd at places as the COVID-19 crisis is not over yet. Hema Singhvi, a home also expressed her joy over the move. 

She used the home time during the curfew to write poetry, but now she hopes to go out and meet her relatives, who live near the Jain temple .
