Woman dies after tree branch falls on her in Coimbatore

A road-side tree branch broke in the middle of the road causing the death of a woman who was en route to purchase school books for her children. Her sudden and gruesome death caused inspeakable grief to her family and relatives.


Coimbatore: In an unfortunate incident, a road-side tree branch broke in the middle of the road near Lakshmi Mills, here causing the death of a woman who was allegedly en route to purchase school books for her children.

Raja, employee of a private company and his wife Gayathri (38) reside along with their children in Pappanaickenpalayam area. Around 3 PM today, both Gayathri and Raja were on a two wheeler to buy school books for their children from their school in the Damu Nagar area. 



En route, while they were on the Lakshmi Mills- Puliakulam road, a branch of a tree opposite to Hotel Anandhas broke free hitting Gayathri on her head with great impact. With extensive injury, she was rushed to a private hospital where she failed to respond to treatment and passed away.

This has caused a great deal of sorrow to her family and relatives. The Race Course police have filed a case and are conducting an investigation. The mortal remains of Gayathri have been sent to the Coimbatore GH for autopsy.
