Civil Aviation Ministry plans to resume flights from May 25 and airlines have been permitted to sell 40% seats below Rs.6,000.

Coimbatore: Civil Aviation Ministry plans to resume flights from May 25 and airlines have been permitted to sell 40% seats below Rs.6,000.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said on Thursday, "the Vande Bharat Mission was initiated to bring back only those citizens who are in distress and not to bring back everyone home. At least 20,000 Indian nationals have been brought back so far. It must, however, be noted that some countries are not allowing people to leave."

The Ministry or Civil Aviation also informed that flight services will be resumed on May 25 and passengers will be mandated to make web check-ins. Only one third of the flight services will be resumed on May 25. Each passenger will be permitted to carry only one baggage for check-in. As per the guidelines issued due to pandemic, no in-flight meal services will be provided, it was stated.

While domestic flights will recommence following the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) issued by the Airport Authority of India, the passengers above age 14 will be mandated the use of the Aarogya Setu app. Luggage will be sanitised before being let into the airport and social distancing measures will be observed strictly.
