Coimbatore: Forest department has warned people against avoid going out in the nighttime due to increased leopard movement in Valparai. Instances of leopards prowling residential areas have been on the raise for quite sometime in Valparai, Coimbatore now.

A video of leopard movement near Valparai government hospital a few days ago was posted on social media following a video of the same near main areas of Valparai like Annasilai, Stanmore Junction and the new bus stand. This has caused panic amid the people in the Valparai area.

Valparai Forest Ranger Senthil Kumar and Forester Guard Muniyandi promised to initiate necessary action following an inquiry in the Valparai town.

According to forest officials, large quantities of meat wastes are being disposed by people in the urban areas. They said this has led to the influx of wild animals into the city.

Hence, the forest officers have advised the people to follow proper meat waste disposal in deep pits and avoid going out at nights.
