Family lay siege to a private hospital following the death of a woman after childbirth
The Nilgiris: A woman who was admitted to Parvathy Medical Centre, a private hospital in Ooty, died after delivery. Following this, her family lay siege to the hospital causing a stir in the area. Maya, daughter of the couple, Murugan and Geetha, and wife of Mohanraj was admitted to a private hospital in Ooty for delivery.
After delivering a baby yesterday, she died the same night causing to the shock and dismay of her family members. The relatives of the woman who laid siege to the hospital today say that more than one hundred people have died due to mistreatment on part of the hospital.They demanded that the doctor who conducted the delivery be arrested and the hospital be shut down.
The protest was called off after police arrived at the scene to negotiate with the victim's relatives and promised to conduct an inquiry into the matter. With the newborn in perfect health, the death of the first-time mother has saddened everyone in the area.
