Nilgiris District Collector inspects checkposts on district borders

The Nilgiris District Collector Innocent Divya conducted inspections at the checkposts in Naadukaani and Kakkanalla on the borders of Nilgiris.


The Nilgiris: The Nilgiris District Collector Innocent Divya conducted inspections at the check posts in Naadukaani and Kakkanalla on the borders of Nilgiris.

Due to the fourth phase of the COVID-19 lockdown, the state borders remain closed. The Nilgiris saw two attempts made by migrant workers to travel through the Nilgiris district from Kerala.

A lorry carrying 72 migrant North Indian workers from Kerala attempted to pass through Naadukaani on the TN-Kerala border in The Nilgiris on the way to Rajasthan. They reached the Kakkanalla area and were sent back to Kerala. Similarly another attempt was made by eight migrant workers who were on the way to Gujarat, when they reached the same check post at Kakkanalla. They were also sent back to Kerala.

There were also instances were Actor Radharavi and a DMK MLA had crossed into the Nilgiris without the knowledge of the district administration and had to be home quarantined based on public protests.



To avoid such instances, Nilgiris District Collector Innocent Divya visited Nadukaani and inspected the check post. In the evening she visited the Kakkanalla check post on the Karnataka border and inspected it too.

She requested the police department to be vigilant and prevent the illegal entry of anybody into the district.



Further she distributed relief supplies to the people in the area.

Divisional Officer Rajkumar, Tahsildar Geetharani, Revenue Inspector Ramesh and many others took part in the relief supply event.
