First Shramik train to Rajasthan leaves Coimbatore Railway station

The migrant workers from Coimbatore, Pollachi, Nilgiris and other nearby areas heaved a sigh of relief as the first special Shramik train left Coimbatore station this evening to Jaipur, Rajasthan.


Coimbatore: The migrant workers from Coimbatore, Pollachi, Nilgiris and other nearby areas heaved a sigh of relief as the first special Shramik train left Coimbatore station this evening to Jaipur, Rajasthan.



The respective police stations and the District Administration assembled all the migrant workers at a marriage hall near the railway station. The guest workers were given tokens, food and water bottles before being taken to the railway station.



Some women and senior citizens were ferried to the railway station in government vehicles. The Health Department and railway officials made arrangements for thermal checks and sanitisation. The issued tokens were converted into official free railway tickets and with the requisite social distancing norms being followed, the passengers were taken to the railway platform two hours before departure.

All the passengers thanked the District Collector K. Rajamani and the tahsildars for the arrangements made.

This is the first Shramik train to Rajasthan.

Tahsildar South, S.Arulmurugan, Deputy Tahsildar South, Selvam, Revenue Inspector Coimbatore Town, P. Kathiresan, Singanallur Revenue Inspector,Rajendran, VAO Nagarajan,North Deputy Tahsildar Manivel, and Head Surveyor, Chandresakeran with the help of various police station personnel saw to that every passenger was taken care of.
