Tirupur: A total of 3,064 migrant workers from Tirupur boarded special trains to Bihar and UP today.
The COVID-19 lockdown has created a lot of uncertainty amid the migrant workers all over the country. Upon the request of the workers, the government had ordered for special trains to carry them back to their home states.
This has resulted in a total of 10,808 migrant workers being sent back from Tirupur to their home states from Tirupur. On those lines, two special trains carrying 3,064 workers left for Bihar and UP today.
The District Administration provided the travellers with water and food and their body temperatures were checked before they boarded the trains.
