The Nilgiris District Cooperative bank provided Rs.17 crore and 43 lakhs in loans to women's self help groups, auto and taxi drivers, workshop workers and other self employed people. A total of 26,640 beneficiaries have benefitted from this.

Per the Central and State government directives, the Nilgiris District Administration has been providing a lot of support to the public and workers who have not been working on a regular basis due to the COVID-19 lockdown.
On those lines, women's self help groups, auto and taxi drivers, workshop workers and many other self employed people were granted loans by the Bank under the COVID-19 Special Loan Scheme. This has been a boon to many sections of workers whose lives have come to a standstill.
A total of 26,640 people have received these special loans worth Rs.17.43 crores. The loans were distributed by the Nilgiris District Collector, Innocent Divya, and the Cooperative Bank President, Kappachi Vinodh.
