A leopard, approximately 6 to 7 years of age, was found lying injured in the residential area of the Ooty Botanical Garden workers. While the doctors were informed regarding this, they did not arrive at the scene even three hours after the information was sent.
The Nilgiris: A leopard in a critically injured state was rescued by the forest department and sent for treatment, on Saturday.

Shocked seeing an injured leopard lying along the road near Ooty Botanical Garden workers' quarters, the passersby alerted the forest department.

The Forest Department personnel who arrived at the spot immediately informed the veterinary doctors to tend the injured leopard. It is alleged that as the veterinary team did not arrive on time, the forest officials had to capture the injured leopard and take it for treatment.
Preliminary reports say that the leopard could be between 6 to 7 years old and could have sustained injuries in a fight with another leopard or bison.
The incident caused a stir in the area.
