M S Ramamoorthy, the Coimbatore East District DMK Agriculture Wing Organizer has been arrested and remanded today for allegedly writing defaming and false information regarding the AIADMK Minister SP Velumani on social media. Following this, the AIADMK Rural District IT Wing Deputy Secretary Riyaz Khan filed a complaint at the RS Puram Police station. Based on this Ramamoorthy was arrested and remanded

Coimbatore: M. S. Ramamoorthy, the Coimbatore District (East) DMK Agriculture Wing Organizer was booked under three sections and remanded for posting defaming and baseless content on AIADMK Minister S.P. Velumani on his social media.

The RS Puram Police on Friday initiated action on him following a complaint from AIADMK Rural District IT division Deputy Secretary, Riyaz Khan. Ramamoorthy has been booked under three sections of the IT Act, causing deliberate dishonour and creating disruption for the general peace.

Several DMK cadres led by MLA N Karthik gathered at the RS Puram police station and condemned his arrest.

Later, M.S. Ramamoorthy was presented before the Magistrate at this house who ordered him to be remanded under judicial custody.

Few weeks back, M.S. Ramamoorthy had written few defamatory posts in his social media page questioning the Minister SP Velumani. The AIADMK party cadres have slammed that such malicious posts are intended to defame the Minister's rising popularity among the public.

MLA Karthik who condemned this act of the police said that the police have become the puppets of Minister S.P. Velumani. He further said that fake cases were filed on M.S. Ramamoorthy leading to his arrest.

Alleging that atrocities by the AIADMK are on the rise, he questioned, "Why no action has been taken on AIADMK cadres who spread false and derogatory content on DMK leaders?."

Pointing that unwarranted arrests and false cases on DMK cadres during COVID crisis is highly condemnable and warned that DMK will never give in to these scare tactics. "We will deal with it legally", he told.
