800 Shramik trains operated as of May 14; over a million passengers transported to their hometowns
The Indian Railways decided to operate special trains "Shramik" following the directives of the Home Ministry on the repatriation of migrant workers, pilgrims, tourists, and students to their home states.
As of May 14, a total of 800 “Shramik Special” trains have been operated from various states across the country. With this, more than a million passengers have reached their home states. The passengers are accomodated by the Railway Department only after the express approval of both the states of origin and destination.
These 800 trains operate from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Mizoram, Odisha, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
