Coimbatore: Two employees of a private moulding company in Pollachi passed away after consuming solvent oil containing alcohol.
Unicast Moulding company operating in Kurunallipalayam near Pollachi reopened after the lockdown 10 days ago. Due to the paucity of liquor, employees of the company, Bagavathi Uttharaj (34) and Suresh Kumar (25) decided to consume alcohol-containing solvent oil in order to get inebriated after which they reportedly fell sick and were admitted to the Pollachi Government hospital.
Later, they were transferred to the Coimbatore Government Medical College Hospital for further treatment.
However,they failed to respond to treatment and passed away this morning. The Pollachi Taluk police have registered a case regarding this and are investigating.
The bodies were sent to the Coimbatore Government Hospital for autopsy.
