Corporation refutes charges made by DMK MLA on uploading council resolutions to the Corporation website
Coimbatore: Citing legal reasons for not uploading the Council resolutions in CCMC's official website, the Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer J Sravan Kumar has refuted the repeated charges by DMK MLA Karthik on CCMC for not updating the Council resolutions in Corporation's website, since 2017.
Clarifying the reasons, the Coimbatore Corporation Commissioner in a press release has stated that “Till July 2017, Coimbatore Corporation had uploaded all the resolutions passed in the council in the website. After which, CCMC website had to be linked to the Urban tree Information system and since 2017 property tax revisions of 100 wards and delimitation process of the new wards had to be incorporated, the CCMC website was under renovation during that period, due to which council resolutions could not be uploaded."
In the meanwhile, a case was filed by the Coimbatore Corporation contractors' association at the Madras High Court to refrain from uploading names of the contractors. A judgement was passed in July 2018 that personal information of contractors should not be uploaded in the Corporation website. Since council resolutions contain personal information and a case against uploading the same in CCMC's website remains pending at the Madras High court, the resolutions passed in the council were kept pending and not uploaded in the website, the release noted.
At the same time, notifications regarding tenders flaoted and finalised, any notification regarding transfers and every tender has been uploaded in the CCMC website, according to government regulations, the Commissioner told.
The press release further stated that Singanallur MLA N.Karthik's statement has been issued with an intention to defame Coimbatore Corporation and the Tamil Nadu government. His allegations are false, the Commissioner informed through the release.
