Natarajan, the CPI(M) Coimbatore district Secretary V. Ramamoorthy and State Council member C. Padmanabhan presented it to the District Collector.
Coimbatore: The consolidated resolutions passed at the Coimbatore District committee meeting of the CPI(M) were presented to the District Collector K. Rajamani by the CPI(M) members.
Led by Coimbatore MP P.R. Natarajan, the CPI(M) Coimbatore district Secretary V. Ramamoorthy and State Council member C. Padmanabhan presented it to the District Collector.
Prior to this MP P.R. Natarajan spoke to the press and informed, "Employees of the MSMEs and educational institutions in Coimbatore have not been paid their entire salary. Only advance has been issued to them. Full payment must be ensured to the employees and workers."
Further he said,"While educational institutions are not permitted to open yet, they are demanding the fees immediately. Only those students who have paid the fees are being permitted to join the online classes. Action must be taken on such private educational institutions and they must be advised against demanding the fees."
"For the past two days migrant workers have been arriving in large numbers to leave for their home states. These people who worked for Coimbatore district must be sent back to their places with dignity. Those employers who understand that the lack of employees will lead to problems for the trade must take care of their employees properly. The process of sending back the workers is flawed and this must be fixed and strengthened. Only then the problem of migrant workers coming out onto the streets will be fixed", he noted.
Stating that there is plenty of money in the auto and construction workers welfare board, he said, "There are sufficient funds in the auto and construction workers welfare boards. Therefore even non-members of the board can be provided with Rs.5,000", and further said, "appropriate rates must be fixed for the produce that is brought in by the farmers. Further the problems faced by the farmers must be discussed and resolved."
"Similarly differently abled people are also very badly affected. It must be ensured that they receive the assistance amount", he said.
"It is indeed heartening to know that Coimbatore is free of COVID-19. However, the District Administration must inform how many tests are being conducted each day in the district. They must clarify on what basis the district has been declared free of the disease. The Minister and the District Collector proclaiming that we are free from the threat of the disease and patting themselves is like fooling ourselves. Hence organisations with no less than 20 people must be made to take testing for the employees", he insisted.
