"As of today, there are no COVID patients under treatment in Coimbatore. A total of 7843 people have been tested in Coimbatore district so far out which 146 tested positive. Of the 146 positive cases, 145 patients have completely recovered and been discharged. One patient from Coimbatore, who was tested positive in Chennai, passed away. Remaining 145 patients treated at both ESI and private hospitals here have fully recovered and been discharged to their homes", the Collector told.
A pregnant woman who was recently tested positive from Karumbukadai in Coimbatore was the lone patient being treated at the COVID ward at ESI Hospital.
"After tests confirmed that she was free from COVID-19, she was discharged today. With this, all patients infected with COVID-19 in the district of Coimbatore have been discharged", told Dr. Nirmala, the Dean of ESI Hospital.
It may be noted that she delivered a healthy baby boy and both the mother and child are reported to be stable.
So far, 247 COVID patients have undergone treatment at ESI Hospital and been discharged.
The meticulous follow-up by the District Administration has helped achieve such tremendous results and transform Coimbatore from orange to green zone.
