Coimbatore: In a fire accident near Annur on Tuesday late evening, a firefighter was left injured after he lost balance and fell.
Velusamy along with his family reside at a farmhouse in Kattampatti near Annur taluk in Coimbatore district. He reportedly had been stocking piles of cardboard in a room next to his farm house, for sale.
On Tuesday late evening, fire broke out at the cardboard stock room. Within a short time, as the fire spread to the entire room, Velusamy alerted the fire station.
Upon information, the Annur fire service personnel were pressed into service. While they were attempting to douse the fire, one of the firefighter, Kannan, accidently tripped off and fell inside the room which was fuming in flames.
Shocked by his fall, the firefighters immediately rescued him and administered first aid. Later, he was rushed to Annur GH for treating his injuries.
Tense moments prevailed in the area for a brief time due to the fire accident. The Annur police have registered a case and are investigating the reason for the fire.
