Public panic as leopard movement increases in Valparai
Coimbatore: Three cows have been killed by leopards in Manika Estate near Valparai in Coimbatore district. Two days earlier, a leopard had killed a cow belonging to Vanaraj in the Karumalai Estate. In another case, the leopard has again killed a cow belonging to Balakrishnan in the Injiparai Estate.
The Valparai Manampalli Forest Department visited the site and arranged for an autopsy. Forest officials also mounted an automated camera in two places near kill site to collect details of the leopard's movement.
The dreaded killings of five cows by leopards over the course of a month in the Valparai area has created fear among the people.
