Coimbatore: Members of the Barber's association petitioned to the District Collector and urged for reopening the barber shops and beauty parlours in the city.
Ever since the lockdown came into place only essential stores have been permitted to remain open. However, other shops have now been permitted to function with several restrictions. Even in this situation beauty parlours and salons are not permitted to be opened.
Following this the Coimbatore District Barbers Association has petitioned to the District Collector to grant permission to reopen the shops immediately.
Speaking regarding the petition they said, "The government has not permitted the reopening of beauty parlours and salons. Most of the people involved in the business of beauty parlours and salons are financially backward. They are entirely dependent on their work for their livelihood. The Government must therefore consider the situation of the workers and reconsider their decision with consideration, regarding the reopening of the beauty parlours and salons. We hope that they take some appropriate action. We have petitioned our request through the District Collector."
