Tirupur: Due to the COVID-19 lockdown the livelihood of many labourers has been affected. To compensate for this, the AITUC demanded Rs.7,500 for three months for the families of the affected labourers.
The Tirupur AITUC staged protests at 100 different places in Tirupur including a protest in front of the Tirupur District Collectorate. The protestors demanded Rs.7,500 for the families of the labourers who were affected by the lockdown.
They also demanded that the workers of the unorganised sector must be paid Rs.2,000 that was announced by the government. Other requests such as providing pensioners with relief amounts and relief supplies were also made during the protests.
MP and AITUC State President Subbarayan took part in the protests that took place outside the Tirupur District Collectorate and raised slogans.
