Coimbatore: A pregnant woman who tested positive for COVID-19, admitted at the ESI Hospital delivered a male child.
A resident of the Karumbukkadai area, the 31 year old pregnant woman visited the hospital for pregnancy health check up. She did not have any symptoms of COVID-19. However, since she belonged to a containment zone she was made to undergo the test for COVID-19.
The test results reported that she was infected with coronavirus, following which she was admitted at the Coimbatore ESI Hospital on May 3.
Under this scenario, yesterday she delivered a male child. The mother and child are reported to be safe. A newborn can be tested for COVID-19 only on the third day. Hence the child will be tested for COVID-19 tomorrow, reported the hospital administration.
