Coimbatore: An unidentified man attempted burglary at TASMAC shop No. 1672 at Chetty street in Selvapuram here on Friday night. Police are investigating using the CCTV footages.
The theft came to light when the public in the area who were walking saw a man climbing over the roof of the TASMAC shop and opening the tiles to gain entry, on Friday night. The public immediately alerted the Big Bazaar Street police station, who rushed to the spot and investigated.
A team led by Assistant Commissioner Ramachandran went inside the liquor store and confirmed that no bottles were stolen.
Police are investigating using the CCTV footages to identify the culprit.
Subsequently, the TASMAC supervisor and officials sealed the shop and welded the locks.
The Madras High Court on Friday evening ruled to close down all TASMAC outlets in the State until May 17. The news has left the tipplers in shock.
