All the four containment zones in Nilgiris will be opened up on Saturday following the confirmation that the contacts of the COVID-19 patients have not been affected by the virus.


The Nilgiris: All the four containment zones in Nilgiris will be opened up on Saturday following the confirmation that the contacts of the COVID-19 patients have not been affected by the virus.

Nine people in the Nilgiris district who had been affected by Coronavirus had recovered and had been discharged from the hospital. Their areas of residence such as Kaandhal in Ooty, Rajaji Nagar in Coonoor, Kotagiri Bazaar and S. Kaikaati area were declared as containment zones. These areas were kept under medical supervision.

No person was permitted to leave or enter the area and police protection was increased for the areas.

On further observation it was noted that neither the COVID-19 patients nor their contacts seemed to have any effects due to the virus. Following this confirmation all the containment zones have been planned to be opened on Saturday.

This announcement was made by the District Collector Innocent Divya during a press conference.
