Coimbatore: Leopards have been killing cows in the Manicka Estate area of Valparai, frequently. Today another cow has been killed today due to a leopard attack.

Leopard movement has been too common in Valparai in the recent past. As a result of this, cows have been attacked frequently.

In this situation another cow has been killed today due to leopard attack. The cow belongs to Madasamy, who had fatefully lost another of his cow on April 26. The cow was sheltered in the cow shed. Prior to this a cow belonging to Vasuki was killed on April 18. All the cows that were hunted belong to the same area.

These incidents of attack on the cows have caused panic and terror among the residents of the area. They have therefore requested the forest department to catch the leopards by placing cages in the area.

The Forest Department was informed of the attack and Manampalli Forest Ranger Nataraj inspected the site of attack. He confirmed that it was a leopard attack. The forest department is conducting investigation regarding the incident.

Surveillance cameras and warning lights indicating the movement of wild animals have been placed in the area and these were inspected by the Anamalai Tiger Reserve Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Selvam. He also ordered the forest department workers to increase surveillance in the area.
