Coimbatore: Many political parties have expressed their discontent over the reopening of TASMAC shops in the State. In this situation, the Hindu Makkal Katchi leader Arjun Sampath was arrested here for attempting to protest against reopening of the liquor shops.
He was arrested near his house near Ukkadam bypass road, when he stepped out to join the protest.
The Selvapuram Police stopped Arjun Sampath and arrested him. He has been kept at a private marriage hall, here. Following his arrest, Arjun Sampath has requested the TN government to permanently close all liquor shops, quicken the COVID-19 preventive measures.
"Instead of re-opening TASMAC shops the government can open temples and allow people to worship", he told.
