Tirupur: In a major fire accident at a spinning mill in Tirupur, several crores worth of goods, machinery and raw materials are alleged to have been destroyed.
According to reports, fire broke at a private spinning mill belonging to Kathiresan near Vellakoil in Tirupur district, on Thursday noon.
The onlookers immediately raised an alarm, following which 10 Fire and Rescue personnel from Vellakoil, Kangeyam and Kodumudi fire station were pressed into service.
The Fire-fighters had to battle several hours to douse the flames.
Though initial estimates of damages are yet to be ascertained, it is reported that the loss could be high. Unconfirmed reports say that the fire could have triggered due to a faulty power line.
