Coimbatore: The TASMAC shop in Thondamuthur road was promised tk be closed down by officials after women in the area staged an agitation, on Thursday.
Joining the bandwagon of protests against the opening of TASMAC shops,over 30 women from Thondamuthur area stormed in front of the TASMAC shop No: 2240 and agitated to pull down the shutters.
The women got into a verbal argument with Inspector Navaneethakrishnan, Village Administration Officer and the Revenue Inspector, after they tried to pacify them.
The enraged women then dispersed after the officials promised to close the shop. Tense situation prevailed in the area for a brief time. Additional police were deployed for security.
