Coimbatore: Expressing their strong condemnation against reopening of TASMACs in Tamil Nadu, the District DMK Youth Wing members staged an agitation in Peelamedu Pudur in Coimbatore on Thursday.
The protest was held on behalf of the DMK Coimbatore City District Youth Wing and was led by Co-organiser Senthamil Selvan of Peelamedu Pudur.
"In this pandemic situation, we strongly oppose the AIADMK government's decision to open TASMACs starting from today. The decision will end up in chaos and possible community spread of the novel coronavirus. While, people living below poverty line are struggling for their daily bread, as they are reeling under financial crisis, the State should focus on reviving the dying economy and livelihood of lakhs of people", told Senthamil Selvan.
He appealed to the people to join hands and oppose the AIADMK government's decision of reopening TASMACs in the State. He also reminded the plight of the families and women who have to face the brunt of the consequences of opening liquor shops at this critical hour.
Pagutharivu Peravai Organiser Kuppanur Palanisamy, Farmers Wing Co-organiser K. Sampath, S.M. Sudhakar, Peelamedu Youth Wing Co-organiser K. Suresh Kumar, Praneeth, Sakthi, Women's Wing Gandhimathi and other Youth Wing executives took part in the protest.
