While 20 people were tested positive at the beginning, further tests revealed that their close aides and family members were also infected. As a result of the outbreak, 14 areas in MTP including LS Puram, SM Nagar and Balaji Nagar were declared as containment zones.
All roads leading to the streets falling under the containment zones were blocked using barricades and empty tins to avoid people movement.
As the quarantine period has been completed, the revenue and police department led by Divisional officer Suresh began works in LS Puram and other areas, on Wednesday evening removed the barriers. Barriers at four more areas under the containment zones will be removed shortly, the officials told.
People expressed huge sigh of relief after they had to be stuck in their houses for over three weeks.
