Coimbatore: Liquor shops in Coimbatore were readied for the reopening tomorrow, after 44 days!
While there are 295 TASMAC shops in Coimbatore, only 207 have been permitted to be reopened tomorrow. 88 shops in the containment zones have to remain closed as per the orders of the District Administration.
Employees of the TASMAC shops in the containment zones will be assigned to assist as additional employees at the TASMAC's that are open.
Customers have to maintain the prescribed timing as per their age, for buying liquor. Customers above the age of 50 can buy liquor between 10 AM and 1 PM, customers aged 40 to 50 years will be permitted to buy liquor between 1 PM and 3 PM. All other customers below 40 will be permitted to buy liquor between 3 PM and 5 PM.
Safety measures are being implemented in front of the TASMAC shops and barricades are being placed to maintain the lines.
While measures are being taken to maintain social distancing, the TASMAC shop no. 1773 in Kulathupalayam, Thondamuthur was decorated with banana leaves and holy pyres were lit and prayers were held for the reopening of the shop. The shop is being reopened after 44 days and the employees of the shop decorated it with enthusiasm for it being open for business tomorrow.
Liquor stocks were delivered to the shops today in preparation for the sale tomorrow.
