Tirupur: Sanitation workers belonging to the AITUC wore black badges to work today, to remind the TN Government of the special allowance promised to them.
When most of the services are shut down due to the COVID-19 crisis, sanitation workers are involved in everyday duty, along with the doctors and health workers. Considering this service, the TN government had promised that they would offer a special allowance for the sanitation workers who were out on duty even in these trying times. The announcement was made on March 23.
The AITUC sanitation workers wore black badges to work today as a mark of discontent and to demand that the payment of special allowance to the sanitation workers, full check up for the sanitation workers and disbursement of the pending salary to the contract workers are executed with immediate effect.
