Review meeting held at Coimbatore Corporation on corona preventive measures
Coimbatore: A review meeting to discuss on the ongoing Corona preventive measures was held at the Coimbatore Corporation office on Monday. The meeting was chaired by Field Inspection Team led by IAS officers --E. Saravanavelraj, Director, Geology and Mining, and R. Gajalakshmi, Managing Director, SIDCO, who are appointed by the State government to review corona preventive measures in Coimbatore.
Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer J Sravan Kumar, Deputy Corporation Commissioner C. Prassana Ramasamy and other officials were present.
According to a release from the Corporation, the special team of IAS officers designated to review the measures taken to curb the spread of COVID-19, informed that on war footing, all preventive measures proposed by the State government should be carried out in the city.
"The public should be responsible and avoid venturing out unnecessarily. Especially, those people belonging to isolated ares should not defy the norms", they told.
Discussions were also held to ensure that the public in isolated areas are supplied with essential commodities at their doorstep.
The special team of IAS officers further advised that all government officials, employees, civilians, police, and task force must mandatorily wear face masks. Fines and actions should be taken against those who do not wear masks.
Briefing on social distancing, they urged that social distancing at all 12 Amma food outlets and market areas should be maintained at all times.
The team insisted that isolated and containment zones should be fumigated with disinfectants, thrice a day.
Earlier, on Saturday the team visited various places in the city to ensure implementation and effectiveness of preventive measures during the lockdown period.
District Revenue Officer (stamp) B Gandhimathi, (District Revenue Officer) MS Kalivani, Urban Welfare Officer Dr. Santhosh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Ramesh Babu, Deputy Inspector General of Police Superintendent N.Premanandan, Deputy Director (Health) P. Aruna and other officials were present.
